Verde's El Ranchero has been a La Jolla landmark since 1948 and the only restaurant that has outlasted the changing tide from the quaint beach community into one of international fame. It is not uncommon to see a fourth generation family dining with great granddad still eating the Cheese Crisp Special - a favorite for 60 years that comes plain, with beans or pork, chicken and/or meat. This is almost a meal for two.

El Ranchero features authentic and traditional Mexican dishes, drawn from family recipes. Our distinctive menu offers classics such as the chili relleno, enchiladas, carnitas, pollo and carne asada. We have a variety that are paired with the typical Mexican combinations favorites such as tacos, enchiladas, and tostadas. Everyday there are specials such as fresh fish, and don't forget our famous bar special, BBQ pork ribs, a tantalizing appetizer with your beer. Our grilled chicken tostada's and taco salads have made El Ranchero's food special for those that are health-minded.

The décor of El Ranchero is the bright colors of Mexico that radiate warmth and relaxation. Hand painted traditional Mexican artwork on the walls touches the soft lighting, and large booths set the stage for very casual dining. Amenities include a full service bar, takeout food, big-screen TVs, and corporate dining, and catering.

La Jolla El Ranchero Restaurant believes in providing great food using fresh ingredients at an affordable price.
